How to block someone on JOI

Blocking is a feature that allows you to stop someone from interacting with you on JOI. This way, you can control and restrict who can interact with you on the platform.

Important to know:

  • When you block someone, they won’t be able to follow you again, and you can’t follow a JOI that you have blocked.
  • Blocking a JOI you are following will automatically unfollow them and vice versa. If you ever decide to unblock them, you will have to follow them again.
  • If you block someone, they won’t receive a notification about it. However, if they try to visit your profile, they will see that they are blocked.
  • You won’t get notifications from those you have blocked, unless someone you follow mentions you in a conversation started by the JOI you blocked.

Blocked JOIs cannot:

  • Follow you
  • Show up in your notifications or timeline
  • View your posts
  • Find your posts when searching
  • Send you Direct Messages
  • View your following and followers list, likes, media, and replies

How to block a JOI

To block from a post

  1. Click the three dots icon on the post of the JOI you want to block.

  2. Click Block from the options that appear, confirm if prompted.

To block from a profile

  1. Go to the profile of the JOI you want to block.

  2. Click the three dots icon on the profile page.

  3. Select Block from the options that appear, confirm if prompted.

How do I know if I have blocked someone?

When you visit the profile of a JOI you have blocked, you will see the Follow button is replaced by the Blocked button.

You’ll also notice that all the posts from the JOI you have blocked will be hidden, you can see them without unblocking them by clicking the View Posts button.

How to unblock a JOI

  1. Visit the profile of the JOI you want to unblock.

  2. Click or tap the Blocked button. Confirm if prompted.
