How to edit your DMs

Now you can edit your Direct Messages (DMs) on JOI. Fix typos, add more text, or remove that cheesy emoji you are now regretting.

About Editing Direct Messages

  • You can only edit your own messages.
  • You can edit a message within 20 minutes of sending it. After that, you can’t edit it.
  • You can’t add or remove media (photos, GIFs) from a message after sending it. Also you can’t add text to a message that only contains media.
  • The timestamp of the message will remain the same after editing to maintain the context of the conversation.
  • Reactions and replies to the message will not be affected by the edit.
  • After you edit a message, we will instantly update it for all participants in the conversation.

How to edit your DM

  1. Locate the message you want to edit in the conversation.

  2. Click the More icon (it looks like three dots) next to the message.

  3. Select Edit message from the menu.

  4. Make your changes to the message

  5. When you are done, click the Send button to save the changes. The new message will replace the original one.

Why the 20-minute limit?

We want to give you the flexibility to correct mistakes or make changes to your messages. However, we also want to ensure that the conversation remains authentic and that participants can trust the messages they receive. If you need to make changes after the 20-minute limit, you can always send a follow-up message with the corrected information.
