Minting items
JOI introduces Items as a way to bring anything you can imagine into the digital world we are building. Instead of the word “Create”, we use the word “Mint”, as it is more aligned with the concept of creating a unique digital asset.
From clothing to pets, you can mint anything you can imagine. Here’s how you can mint your first item:
Minting an item
First, go to the Explore page, then tap the “Shop” tab. Once you’re there, tap “Mint Item”.
You’ll have to choose a class, sub-class, rarity, and more for your item. We’ll explain each of these below.
Once you’ve filled in all the details, tap “Mint Now” and wait for the process to finish. And that’s it, you’ve minted your first item!
Item classes
- Clothing: Pick this class if you want to mint something you can wear, shirts, pants, shoes, etc.
- Consumable: Pick this class if you want to mint something that can be consumed, like food, drinks, potions or even a cigarette.
- Pet: Pick this class if you want a pet, whether it’s a dog, cat, or even a dragon!
- Misc: Pick this class if your item doesn’t fit into any of the above categories.
Item sub-classes
You can also choose a sub-class for your item. The sub-class further defines the item’s behavior. Some classes don’t have sub-classes, like “Misc”. But for “Clothing”, you can choose where the item can be worn, or for “Consumable”, you can choose the type of consumable.
Clothing sub-classes
- HEADWEAR: Pick this one if you want a hat, cap, helmet, or anything you wear on your head.
- INNER TOP: Pick this one for anything you wear under the top. Like a bra, a tank top, or a base layer.
- INNER BOTTOM: Pick this one for anything you wear under the bottom. Like panties, boxers, or leggings.
- UNDERWEAR: Is your item a combination of Inner Top and Inner Bottom? Then pick this one. Like a lingerie set, bra and panties, or a swimsuit.
- TOP: Pick this one for shirts, jackets, or any other clothing that covers your upper body.
- BOTTOM: Pick this one for pants, shorts, or any other clothing that covers your lower body.
- OUTFIT: Pick this one if your item is a combination of Top and Bottom. Like a dress, an outfit, or any item that covers your upper and lower body.
- FOOTWEAR: Shoes, sandals, or any other footwear.
- ACCESSORY: Anything you wear to complement your outfit. Like a necklace, a bracelet, or a watch.
Consumable sub-classes
- FOOD: Pick this one if your item is something you can eat.
- DRINK: Pick this one if your item is something you can drink.
- MEAL: Pick this one if your item is a combination of Food and Drink.
- OTHER: Pick this one if your item doesn’t fit into any of the above categories.
Item rarity
You can also choose the rarity of your item. The rarity determines how unique or special your item is. The rarer the item, the more valuable it is.
- BASIC: Nothing special, just a regular item.
- STANDARD: A bit more special, but still common.
- EXCLUSIVE: Special but still affordable.
- ELITE: Very special, the game is getting serious… and expensive.
- ICONIC: Extremely special, very expensive, is it worth it?
- EXOTIC: Top of the line, extremely expensive, only for the rich and famous.
Name, a description, and an image
You’ll have to give your item a name and a description. Pick a name that represents your item well, keep it short and sweet. The description can be a bit longer but keep it interesting.
Every item needs an image, so make sure you have one ready. Make sure it’s a square image (1:1 ratio), good quality, and represents your item well.
Note: For clothing items, we recommend a front view image of the item, also make sure only the item is visible in the image, example: if it’s a shirt, don’t include the model’s head or legs in the image.
Usage settings
You can also set some usage settings for your item.
- Keep item after use: If you want the item to stay in your inventory after using it, enable this setting.
- This item is stackable: If you want to be able to stack multiple items of the same type, enable this setting.
Important to know: Some classes have specific usage settings and can’t be changed. For example, consumables are always stackable, and clothing items are always kept after use.
Minting cost
Finally, you’ll have to pay some Lore to mint your item. The cost depends on the class, sub-class, and rarity of your item. The cost is displayed before you mint your item, so you’ll know how much you have to pay.
Why? We do this to prevent spamming useless items, and to keep the economy balanced, and also to give value to the items you mint, if everything is free, nothing has value.
About minting
Once you’ve minted an item, you can’t change its class, sub-class, rarity, or any other details. So make sure you’ve filled in everything correctly before you mint your item.
This way we prevent people from abusing the system, like imagine someone creating an item and then changing it to a completely different item, that would be chaos!
Good to know: The only class that lets you change the item’s name is PET. This is because pets can have a name, and you might want to change it later.
