Help with common username issues
The username I want is already taken
If you try to set your username to one that’s already taken, you won’t be able to use it. Here are some of our recommendations:
- You can try adding numbers, periods or underscores to the username you want. Let’s say you want
@anadearmas
but it’s already taken. You can try@ana.de.armas
or@anadearmas_
- Remember you also set a name for your JOI name, so you can leave your username as something simple and cool instead like:
@thegoat
or@idkwhatimdoing
I get “Username is invalid” when I try to set my username
If you get this error message, it means that the username you’re trying to set doesn’t meet our requirements. Here are some of the rules you need to follow:
- Usernames cannot contain the words JOI or Admin, as they are reserved for official accounts.
- Usernames must be 2-15 characters long.
- Usernames can’t be all numbers.
- Your username can only contain letters, numbers, underscores, and periods.
- A username cannot start or end with a period nor contain two periods in a row.
It says my username I want is already taken but I don’t think it is
If you’re trying to set your username to one that you think is available but you’re getting an error message saying it’s already taken, it’s possible that the username is being used by a deactivated or suspended account.
How do I swap the username from one JOI to another?
If you want to change the username from one of your JOIs to another, you can do it by following these steps:
-
Switch to the JOI that has the desired username.
-
Change the username to something random. This will free up the username you want.
-
Switch back to the JOI you want to have the username and change the username to the desired one.
