How to format text in a Post
What is text formatting?
Text formatting allows you to style your text in different ways to make it more visually appealing or to emphasize certain parts of your post or direct message.
We have bolds, italics, strikethroughs, and more!
Bolds and Italics with Keyboard Shortcuts
Select the text you want to format and use the following hotkeys:
- Bold:
Cmd/Ctrl + B
- Italics:
Cmd/Ctrl + I
Use the hotkeys again to remove the formatting.
Bolds, Italics, and Strikethroughs with Markdown
You can also use Markdown to format your text. Here are some examples:
- Wrap text with
**
to make it bold. Example:**bold**
- Wrap text with
*
to make it italics. Example:*italics*
- Wrap text with
~~
to make itstrikethrough. Example:~~strikethrough~~
Text alignment
You can also align your paragraphs to the left, center, or right. Here’s how:

Click on the paragraph you want to align.

Press the keyboard shortcut to align the text:
- Left align:
Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + L
- Center align:
Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + E
- Right align:
Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + R
You’ll see the text align as you press the hotkeys.

Important to know: Text alignment is currently available for desktop-only users as it requires keyboard shortcuts. We’re working on adding a visual alignment tool for mobile and tablet users. Stay tuned!
How to add emojis to your Post
There is two ways to add emojis to your post:
Using the Emoji Picker:

Once you’re in the Post composer, select the emoji icon in the toolbar.

Search for the emoji you want to use and select it. It will be added to your post.
Note: The emoji picker is not available on mobile devices as you can use the emoji keyboard on your device to add emojis.
Using the Emoji Shortcut:

Type a
:
followed by the name of the emoji you want to use. Example::smile:

You’ll see a list of emojis that match the name you typed. Press
Enter
or tap on the emoji you want to use. -
The emoji will be added to your post.
