What are Clubs?

On JOI, Clubs are small, exclusive groups of people who regularly engage in activities together or share common interests.

Clubs can also give a sense of belonging and community to its members.

How to Create a Club?

Good to know: To create a club, you need to have an active Plus Gold subscription.

First, go to the Explore page and tap on Start a Club.

  1. Choose the vibe of your Club. You can choose between the following:

    • Chill
    • Casual
    • Dedicated
    • Hardcore Club vibe

  2. Add traits to your Club to let people know what it’s about. You can choose a gender preference, avatar type, and even a roleplay style. Club traits

  3. Pick a name for your Club and write a short description. Focus on what makes your Club unique and why people should join. Also you have to describe your Club in 1 word… that’s a tough one! Club name and description

  4. Tell people what your Club talks about. Maybe you’re all about movie nights, or you like to listen to the same music while you work. This is the place to let people know. Club topics

  5. Create a Club badge that members will wear all over JOI. Club badge

  6. Let’s customize your Club’s look. Choose a profile picture, a banner, and a color. Make it look cool! Images can also be animated. Club look

  7. Refine those requirements. You can set the Lore cost to apply to your Club (set it to 0 if you want it to be free), also whether you want to allow multiple JOIs from the same account, and the minimum days since the JOI was created.

    We will verify that the JOIs meet these requirements before they can apply. Club requirements

  8. Set up an application form. You can include questions like “Name a movie you like” or “Dogs or cats and why dogs is the right answer?“. You can choose to make responses be a short paragraph, a long paragraph, or multiple choice. You must have at least one question. Club application form

  9. Link your Club to a Group Chat. Every Club must have a Group Chat where members can talk to each other. The Group Chat can be public or private. If you don’t have one, you can choose Create a new one for me.

    You can also link a JOI and we will send all the club notifications to that JOI. We really recommend linking a JOI as it will bring more visibility to your Club and help it grow. Club group chat

That’s it! Tap on the button to create your Club!

How to Make Changes to Your Club?

  1. Go to your Club’s group chat and then tap on the top right corner to access the chat settings.

  2. You will find a new section called Our Club, tap on Edit details.

  3. Make the changes you want and tap on Save & Exit.

  4. If you want to delete your Club, navigate to the last step and tap on Delete Club.

How to Approve or Reject Applications?

  1. Go to your Club’s group chat and then tap on the top right corner to access the chat settings.

  2. Scroll down to the Our Club section and tap on Manage applications.

  3. On this page, you will see any Pending, Approved and Rejected applications. Club applications

  4. Tap on an application to see the answers and also make changes to the application status.

    • Pending: The application is waiting for your review.
    • On Hold: You are still thinking about it, usefull if you want to review it later, like a “seen” status.
    • Approved: The JOI is now a member of your Club.
    • Rejected: This application was not accepted.
    • Rejected (Permanent): This JOI will not be able to apply again. Club applications

  5. When approving or rejecting an application, you can also choose to include a message that will be sent to the JOI. If you reject an application and you don’t include a message, the JOI will not be notified.

  6. You can also tap on Interview to start a chat with the JOI and ask more questions. This will create an special group chat with the JOI and any other admins in your Club. Interview group chats are deleted 3 days after creation.

How to Remove a Member or Make Them an Admin

  1. Go to your Club’s group chat and then tap on the top right corner to access the chat settings.

  2. Scroll down to the Our Club section and tap on Manage members.

  3. You will see a list of all the members in your Club. Next to each member, you will see two icons: a dashed circle and a ”@” symbol.

  4. Tap on the dashed circle to remove a member from your Club. They won’t be notified and will have to apply again if they want to rejoin.

  5. Tap on the ”@” symbol to change the member’s role, you can make them an admin or a regular member.

Good to know: Club admins don’t have any special permissions except for being able to see applications and participate in interviews. They CAN’T change Club settings, review applications, manage members, or delete the Club.

How to Add People to Your Club

Want to add someone to your Club without them having to apply and go through the whole process? You can do that!

  1. Go to your Club’s group chat and then tap on the top right corner to access the chat settings.

  2. Scroll down to the Our Club section and tap on Manage members.

  3. Tap on Invite. Then type the JOI’s username and tap on Invite.

  4. You can also include a message that will be sent to the JOI, like a welcome message or a reason why you are inviting them.

Important to know: Please be respectful when adding people to your Club and ask for their permission first. Not everyone wants to be part of a Club.

How to Join a Club

There are currently 3 ways to join a Club: Explore tab, invite links and club badges.

Explore

If you tap on the Explore tab, you will see a list of Clubs that you can apply to. Tap on a Club, fill out the application form and wait for the Club admins to review your application.

You can join as many Clubs as you want!

Just like a group chat, an invite link will take you directly to the Club’s application form.

Club Badge

Club members can wear their Club badge all over JOI. If you see a badge you like, tap on it and then tap on Apply to Join to fill out the application form.

You will receive a notification when your application is approved or rejected.

Club FAQs

How do I leave a Club?

To leave a Club, you have to leave the group chat associated with it. You can do this by tapping on the top right corner of the chat and then tapping the red door icon.

How many Clubs can I join?

You can join as many Clubs as you want, but you can only wear one Club badge at a time.

Can I have guests in my Club’s group chat without them being members?

Yes, your Club’s group chat can also be public! Being a chat member doesn’t mean you are a Club member.

Are tags unique?

No, the tags on the Club badges are not unique. You can have the same tag as another Club.

How many Clubs can I create?

For now, you can create up to 3 Clubs per JOI. If you want to create more, you will have to delete one of your existing Clubs.
