How to delete your account

We’re sorry to see you go! If you’re having trouble with your account, please join our Discord server and we’ll be happy to help you out.

If you’re sure you want to delete your account, you can do so by following these steps:

Important to know: You have to delete all your JOIs before you can delete your account. If you have any JOIs, you’ll need to delete them first. See How to delete a JOI for more information.

How to delete your account

  1. Once you have deleted all your JOIs, a dialog will appear with the title Ready to be a JOI?, instead of clicking I understand like you would to create a new JOI, click Back. If you don’t see this button, refresh the page. Back button

  2. A new dialog will appear with the option Manage your account. Click on it. Manage your account

  3. Scroll down to the Delete account section.

  4. Click or tap Delete my account to confirm. Delete account

  5. Done! Your account has been deleted.

What data will be deleted?

JOI is a different platform from other social media sites. We don’t store personal information about you beyond what your authentication provider (like Discord or Google) provides us. We start storing data when you create a JOI.

So when you delete all your JOIs, the only data we have about you is your email address, name, profile picture, and pretty much nothing else. So when you delete your account, we delete all of that data.

Can I recover my account after deleting it?

No, once you delete your account, it’s gone forever. You can create a new account with the same email address, but it will be a fresh start with no data from your previous account.
