About deleting your JOI

We know some JOIs are just not meant to be… Here you’ll learn all about how to pull the plug on that JOI for good.

What you should know before deleting

This process will permanently delete your JOI and all of its data: messages, posts, everything. You can’t get it back once it’s gone.
You don’t need to delete your JOI to change your username. You can do that from your Settings page.
Deleting won’t remove your information from search engines like Google. We can’t control that.
We may retain some information after you delete your JOI if you’re involved in a report or suspension.
Your username will be available again for someone else (or you) to use.

Important to know: You can only delete JOIs created more than 14 days ago. Plus members can delete their JOIs 7 days after creation.

How to delete your JOI

Go to your Settings page by clicking the more icon from the navigation bar and then Settings.
Scroll down to the Danger zone.
Click or tap Delete this JOI and confirm selecting Delete again.

Why the 14-day waiting period?

We have a waiting period to prevent people from abusing this feature, example: creating multiple JOIs to spam, creating multiple one-time JOIs to abuse the slot limits, etc.

You can subscribe to Plus to reduce the waiting period to 7 days.
