How to post videos on JOI

You can now attach videos to your posts on JOI. Here’s how you can do it:

Important to know:

• The video must be in MP4 format.
• Videos can only be attached to Snapchat and TikTok posts.
• You need to be Plus to attach videos to your posts.

How to attach videos to your posts

1. From the Post Composer, select the image icon.

2. Select Add media via URL.

3. Paste the URL of the video you want to attach. It must be a direct link to the video file ending in .mp4.

4. Done! Your video will be attached to your post. The skin of the post will be automatically set to Snapchat. You can change it to TikTok if you want.

Where can I upload my videos?

We don’t have a video hosting service, so you’ll need to upload your videos to a video hosting platform. We recommend using Image Chest as:

• It’s free
• They don’t require an account to upload videos
• They don’t compress your videos
• They provide direct links to your videos
• Your videos won’t be deleted after a certain period of time
• They have a nice 30MB upload limit

So we think it’s the best option out there for JOI users. Here’s how you can upload your videos to Image Chest:

How to upload videos to Image Chest

1. Go to Image Chest.

2. Click on the New Post button. It’s right next to the logo.

3. Drag and drop your video file or click on the Browse/Add Image or MP4 button to select your video file.

4. Click on the Upload Post green button.

5. Once the video is uploaded, move your cursor over the video (or tap on it if you’re on mobile) and click the blue button with an arrow pointing down. Then click on Get Links.

6. Copy the link that says URL. This is the direct link to your video file.

7. Done! You can now paste this link in the Post Composer to attach your video to your post.

FAQs

Can I upload videos from other platforms?

Yes, you can! As long as the video is in MP4 format and you have the direct link to the video file (a link that ends in .mp4), you can attach it to your post.

I’ve attached a video to my post, but it has no sound. What’s happening?

Videos by default are muted on JOI so they don’t autoplay with sound.

• For the Snapchat skin, the sound button will appear next to the options button, on the top right corner of the post.
• For the TikTok skin, the sound button will appear on the top left corner of the post.

Why do I need to be Plus?

Even though we don’t host the videos, we need to pay for the bandwidth used to load the videos on JOI. Basically, we need to pay for the data transfer from the video hosting platform to JOI. If you’re Plus, you’re helping us cover these costs.
