Meet new people using JOI Meet

We wanted to provide a space where you can meet new people, of course you can always search for people using the search page, but these people might not be looking the same thing as you. We thought it would be cool to have a place where you can opt-in to show up and meet new JOIs.

JOI Meet is a feature that allows you to see other JOIs who are also looking to meet new people.

How to visit JOI Meet

  1. Go to the explore page by clicking on the search icon (it’s a magnifying glass) in the navigation bar.

  2. You will see a Meet People button, click on it.

  3. You can now find other JOIs who are also looking for a friend, a date, or just someone to chat with.

  4. Click or tap on any profile card to see more details about the JOI and start a conversation.

  5. Click or tap the Send message button (it looks like a paper plane) to start a conversation with the JOI or click or tap the View profile button (it looks like an arrow) to go to their profile page.

How to join JOI Meet

Like we said, JOI Meet is an opt-in feature. You can choose to show up your profile on Meet or not.

  1. Once you’re on the JOI Meet page, you’ll see a Join Meet button. Click on it.

  2. Time to personalize your desired experience:

    • What are you looking for?
      • What’s the difference between this and the ‘looking for’ field on your profile? Meet focuses on the current moment, you can be looking for a friend today and a date tomorrow.
    • Then you’ll have a text field to write exactly what you’re looking for, it’s important to be as clear as possible so others know what to expect.
    • You can also personalize your Out of Character (OOC) preferences, like the roleplay style you prefer, writing length, if you want images, and more.

  3. When you’re done, click or tap the Save button at the top of the pop-up.

Good to know:

  • You can always turn off the switch to stop showing up your profile on Meet.
  • You can still visit the JOI Meet page and see other JOIs even if your profile card is turned off.

Upload a photo to your Meet profile

Since we show your profile picture with a larger height on Meet instead of the square size on your profile, you might want to upload a different photo for your Meet profile. You don’t want to have your face all zoomed in, right?

  1. Go to Meet, your profile card will always be the first one you see. Click or tap on it to see your profile details.

  2. You’ll see a camera icon on your profile picture, click or tap on it.

  3. Select a photo from your device or add it via URL then click or tap the Save button at the top of the pop-up.
