How to use JOI search
When you’re looking for something specific on JOI, you can use the search feature to find posts, users, and hashtags.
Search on JOI

Go to the search page by clicking on the search icon (it’s a magnifying glass) in the navigation bar.

Click on the search bar and type in what you’re looking for.

You’ll instantly see some profiles that match your search query. To see more results, click Search for ”…“.

Your results will be displayed in three tabs:
- Posts: This tab shows all the posts that match your search query.
- People: This tab shows all the JOIs that match your search query.
- Media: This tab shows all the posts containing a photo or GIF that match your search query.
We sort the results by the date they were posted, with the most recent posts at the top.
Apply filters to your search

Go to the search page by clicking on the search icon (it’s a magnifying glass) in the navigation bar.

Next to the search bar, you’ll see the Search settings button, it looks like a gear , click on it.

You’ll find two checkboxes:
- Hide posts from muted and blocked JOIs: This option is checked by default. If you uncheck it, you’ll see posts from JOIs you’ve muted or blocked in your search results.
- Hide posts from NSFW profiles: This option is also checked by default. If you uncheck it, you’ll see posts from profiles marked as NSFW in your search results.

Make your selections, your changes will be saved automatically.

Start your search again with the new filters applied.
Search tips
- You can search for multiple words at once by separating them with a space.
- You can search for posts mentioning a specific JOI by typing
@
followed by their username. Example:@sydney
will show you all posts mentioning the JOI@sydney
. - You can search for posts with a specific hashtag by typing
#
followed by the hashtag. Example:#joi
will show you all posts with the hashtag#joi
. - We also include hashtags in the search results, so searching for
joi
will show you all posts with the hashtag#joi
.
Recent searches
When you search for something on JOI, your search query will be saved in your recent searches. We will save up to 10 of your most recent searches, if you make more than 10 searches, the oldest search will be removed from the list.
You’ll see all your recent searches when you visit the search page.
To remove a search from your recent searches, click on the X next to the search query. Or you can clear all your recent searches by clicking the Clear all button.
Search FAQs
My posts aren’t showing up in search results, why?
There are a few reasons why your posts might not show up in search results:

Are your posts protected? If so, only your followers can see your protected posts in search results.

Is your profile marked as Not Safe For Work (NSFW)? If so, your posts won’t show up in search results unless those searching have opted in to see NSFW content. See our Adult Content Policy to learn about our sensitive content settings and how to adjust them.
