How to protect and unprotect your posts
You can choose to protect your posts by making them private.
How to protect your posts
-
Go to your Settings page by clicking the more icon from the navigation bar and then Settings.
-
Under the Your Profile section, you’ll see a checkbox next to Protect your posts. Check the box to make your posts private or uncheck it to make them public.
Important to know:
- When you make your posts public, your pending follower requests won’t be approved automatically. You’ll need to approve them manually unless they follow you again.
- When you unprotect your posts, all your posts will become public to everyone again.
What is the difference between public and protected posts?
- Your posts are public by default. This means that anyone can see your posts, even if they don’t follow you.
- When you protect your posts, only your followers can see them and interact with them. Anyone who wants to follow you will need to send you a follow request, which you can approve or deny.
- If you want to stop someone from sending you follow requests, you can block them.
- Keep in mind that your followers can still share your posts with others by taking a screenshot.
What happens when I protect my posts?
- Every time someone wants to follow you, you’ll receive a follow request that you can approve or deny.
- Your posts will only be visible to your followers.
- Your followers won’t be able to repost or quote your posts.
- Your replies to others will only be visible to those who follow you.
- Copying the URL of your post and sharing it with others won’t work unless they follow you.
Good to know: When you change your posts from public to protected, others may still be able to see your posts in their timeline, but they won’t be able to interact with them or see them after refreshing the page.
