Understanding JOI
I like to think of JOI as a virtual reality world, where you can create a persona/character (we call them “JOIs”) and interact with other people. You can be a marvel superhero, a celebrity, a streamer, or a furry… if that’s your thing.
So, is it a role-playing site?
Hmmm, not exactly. You can role-play if you want, create a whole plot and story for your character, and find people to join you. But you can also just be yourself, or a version of yourself, a version that you would like to be.
Let’s say you want to be an instagram influencer, well you can just post your gym selfies and food pics, maybe you’re not into writing long posts, or dialogues or actions wrapped in asterisks and that’s fine, you can just be a JOI and have fun with it.
An scape from reality
”People come to the Oasis for all the things they can do, but they stay for all the things they can be — tall, beautiful, scary, a different sex, a different species, live-action cartoon, it’s all your call.” — Wade, Ready Player One
In a certain way, JOI is a place where you can rest from your daily life and be someone else, it might work as a form of escapism, but it’s also a place where you can meet new people and make friends.
You got me, how do I start?
Just start an account and create your first JOI. You only need an email, then you can create a lot of JOIs, go ahead and have fun!
