How to post GIFs and photos on JOI

Media like GIFs and photos can make your posts more engaging or just more fun. We do not host any media on JOI, so you can only add GIFs and photos via URL or by connecting your ImgBB account so you can upload media directly from your device.

Connecting your ImgBB account

Don’t have an ImgBB account? Sign up! It’s a free file hosting service. Here are the benefits of connecting your ImgBB account to JOI:

  • Upload media directly from your device: No need to upload your media to a hosting service, then copy the URL, paste it… ugh! Just upload it directly from your device!
  • Enjoy our cropping tool: Edit your photos as you like, we’ll upload the edited version to your ImgBB account.

  1. From the Post composer, select the photo icon.

  2. Select Connect my ImgBB account.

  3. Go to https://api.imgbb.com/

  4. Tap on Get API Key.

  5. Copy the API key and paste it in the input field on JOI.

  6. Select Continue.

You’re all set! Now you can tap on the photo icon in the Post composer again and we’ll ask you to upload a photo from your device.

How to add media by URL

  1. From the Post composer, select the photo icon.

  2. Select Add image by URL.

  3. Paste the URL of the media you want to add and select Add Image. You can also select one of your recent images.

  4. Once you’ve selected the media you want to add, it will be displayed in the composer. You can add up to 4 photos per post.

  5. You can also post, reply or quote post with just a GIF or photo without any text.

  6. Select Post to share your post with the media.

You can also send GIFs and photos in Direct Messages.

How to edit a photo in a Post

Important to know: You can only edit photos you’ve uploaded from your device, not photos you’ve added by URL.

  1. Select the photo icon in the Post composer.

  2. Choose a photo from your device.

  3. Before posting, Click on the Edit button on the photo you want to crop.

  4. A cropping tool will appear with a zoom slider and many orientation options to crop the photo.

  5. TIP: For posts with the Instagram skin, you can choose the Portrait orientation as it will fit the post better.

  6. Once you’re done, click Save to apply the changes.

How to remove media from a Post

For posts you’ve already shared: You can’t remove media from a post once it’s been shared. You can delete the post and create a new one without the media.

If you’re still composing the post:

  1. Click on the X icon on the media you want to remove.

  2. The media will be removed from the post.

GIFs and Photos FAQs

Do media count towards the character limit?

No, photos and GIFs don’t count towards the character limit of a post. You can add up to 4 photos or 1 GIF per post.

Where can I find the media I’ve posted?

Go to your profile and click on the Media tab to see all the photos and GIFs you’ve posted.

Who can see the media I post?

Photos and GIFs you post are visible to everyone who can see your posts. If your profile is public, anyone can see them. If your profile is private, only your followers can see them.
